My ramblings......

Its snowing..Its snowing...

I am used to all this sweat and heat and humidity of chennai and madurai... and I was counting the days for the snow to pelt denver... and when it came it came...

I was sitting in my balcony with a steaming cup of coffee in one hand, a book in the other and Ilayaraaja's thiruvaasagam in the background - @2.30 in the morning watching the snow fall....Wonderful... But if you ask me abt how I came in to office today... I will start cursing... had the fright of my life... fell down a cpl of times... soaking wet in the rain... the jeans almost like an irritating second skin....Its funny that I was waiting for the snow and when it finally came I was cursing it... All my cursing died flat on my lips the moment I saw the park opposite my apts...

The park is all spotless white, the trees are covered with snow and the roads and pavements standing out with their black and grey shades....... Pristine and breathtakingly beautiful. Its an amazing sight for someone who has never seen so much snow...and for all those who have been seeing it all their lives ( I know I know I am sounding juvenile and all that... but I am excited and it kind of just bubbles up :D )

yesterday a cpl of my frends (who apparently know of my obsession with this white white thing!!) warned me not to go out in my meagre strap sandals and that I would need all the jackets, gloves, mufflers etc etc etc... they had good reason to warn me off....you see when I landed here this march it was snowing heavily and I blithely went to office the first day in a cotton salwar kameez wearing a pair thin strap sandals and no jacket!!!and to top it my travel time was 2 hrs with multiple transfers...Heck..... I never realised that you are supposed to wear jackets and sweaters for a little bit of snow and my american collgs spent a good hr of my first day here lecturing me!!! seems I got to choose between my toes or snow shoes!!!

Today I went all buttoned up in a jacket, gloves, shoes.. basically the whole gear...and still I slipped a cpl of times, practically skiing my way into office. ( good training for the Aspen trip I am planning :D ).. Just sat and watched the snow fall, no reqts review, no testing, no documentation.. Just me n my coffee sitting and watching the snow fall....dreaming abt skiing in Breckenridge and Vail ( I really skate and slide and do all that stuff guaranteed to break your neck especially since I have no sense of balance)

Ikkaraikku akkarai patchai...I also felt the same, when I first saw snow. If you think worst is over..think again...wait till the snow starts to melt..

Trip to Aspen sounds exciting, Mathangy..:) Looks like you're having a ball out there!
As for me, I'd rather not have snow. Like rags said, when the snow starts melting is when the worst part begins. Driving becomes a nightmare and so does walking/running or any other normal thing!

Nesamana nesam.. I have a sorely abused body that will attest to the 'pitfalls' of snow.

Reminds me of my first time in the snow - I went crazy cycling, snow balling, playing around in the snow :)

But most times, for me, snow is great to watch from my window - when I have a big mug of some warm liquid, a weekend and a book at hand!
